The Mobile Marketing Association and its official research partner, Luth Research, released May 2010 U.S. Mobile Consumer Briefing, MMA's latest monthly survey of U.S. adult consumers about their mobile marketing behaviors and opinions. Available free of charge to most MMA members, the new survey shows that approximately one in five U.S. adult mobile phone owners have used their cell phone for mobile commerce (m-commerce) in the past month.

As some parts of the U.S. housing market work their way out of the housing recession, while the majority of markets continue to decline, homeowners across the country had mixed opinions of the state of their own homes' values, according to the Zillow Q1 Homeowner Confidence Survey. Nationally, homeowners were overconfident, with half(50 percent) believing their own home's value declined in the past year. In reality, 65 percent of U.S. homes declined in value, according to Zillow's Q1 Real Estate Market Reports.

U.S. companies' top concern in the climate change debate is reducing carbon emissions, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers' Appetite for Change survey. Of the climate change/environmental issues expected to most impact U.S. companies over the next two to five years, U.S. survey respondents ranked reduction of carbon dioxide emissions first (16 percent), followed by new regulation, second (13 percent); energy efficiency, third (12 percent); and legislation/new laws, fourth (11 percent).

Pay TV market growth slowed in 2009 due to the recession. However, 2010 is expected to be a better year as operators have been signing up new subscribers, and existing subscribers are migrating to premium channels and advanced services. “As a result of the positive market outlook for pay TV,” says ABI Research practice director Jason Blackwell, “global pay TV revenue will net more than $312 billion for cable and telecom carriers in 2010.”

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) declined 0.1 percent in April, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Over the last 12 months, the index increased 2.2 percent before seasonal adjustment.

Western Europe leads the world in retail e-commerce sales. The UK is the most mature market, but other countries increasingly contribute to the region’s online buying clout. Europe’s dominance will continue through 2012, according to Collins Stewart, when online retail sales will cross the $200 billion threshold.
