81% of Energy Consumers are Concerned about Climate Change

In a groundbreaking survey conducted by Energy Insights, 81% of respondents indicated concern about climate change. 51% of respondents said they are very concerned and 30% said they are somewhat concerned. Only 5% indicated they are not concerned at all about climate change.

Business Bankruptcy Rates Continue to Rise in 2007

The number of U.S. business bankruptcies continues to rise in 2007, as the second quarter filings showed yet another dramatic increase in the number of businesses seeking protection from creditors. The increase continues to reflect the business insolvency forecast produced by leading accounts receivable insurer Euler Hermes ACI earlier this year.

Construction output up by 0.6% in the euro area in June 2007

In the construction sector, seasonally adjusted production rose by 0.6% in the euro area (EA13) and by 0.5% in the EU272 in June 2007, compared with the previous month. In May, production increased by 0.1% in the euro area, but fell by 0.2% in the EU27.

Euro area external trade surplus 7.8 bn euro in June 2007

The first estimate for the euro area (EA13) trade balance with the rest of the world in June 2007 gave a 7.8 bn euro surplus, compared with +1.6 bn in June 2006. The May 2007 balance was +1.7 bn, compared with -4.0 bn in May 2006. In June 2007 compared with May 2007, seasonally adjusted exports rose by 1.7% and imports by 0.7%.

63 Percent of Malware Distributed by US-based Web Sites

Cyveillance reports that United States-based Web surfers are more at risk to malware attacks and online identity theft schemes than citizens from other countries, with more than 63 percent of malware distributed on U.S.-based Web sites. In addition more than 2 million URLs world-wide distributed malicious downloads to site visitors.
