Consumers who shop online for digital cameras and TVs spend 10% more on in-store purchases than consumers who do not search online, according to survey sponsored by Yahoo! Search Marketing and conducted by ChannelForce. Shoppers were interviewed when entering big box electronics stores like Best Buy and Circuit City.

A comprehensive survey in 12 countries of more than 7,600 young people between the ages of 16 - 29 shows that 77% of today's online youth would sooner live without television than live without the Internet. China has the most devoted young Internet users, with 87% choosing the Internet compared to 13% favoring television. In the United States the figures were 77% for the Internet and 23% for TV.

A report from the European Commission's in-house scientific service, the Joint Research Centre (JRC), indicates that overall electricity consumption is growing in the EU. According to the report, electricity consumption in the tertiary (service) sector increased by 15.8%, and industry consumption by 9.5%. The average consumption for a single household in the EU-25 was 4098 kWh in 2004. This could be reduced by 800 kWh per house per year, or about 20 % less electricity consumption in each household, if replacement of existing appliances and equipment and a full phase out of incandescent lighting were to be actively promoted in all EU Member States.
