Real average weekly earnings fell by 0.5 percent from March to April after seasonal adjustment, according to preliminary data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.6 percent in April, before seasonal adjustment, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported. The April level of 214.823 (1982-84=100) was 3.9 percent higher than in April 2007.

In March 2008 compared with February 2008, seasonally adjusted industrial production fell by 0.2% in the euro area (EA15) and by 0.1% in the EU27. In February production rose by 0.3% and 0.4% respectively.

RealtyTrac(R), released its April 2008 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report(TM), which shows foreclosure filings - default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions - were reported on 243,353 properties, a 4 percent increase from the previous month and a nearly 65 percent increase from April 2007. The report also shows one in every 519 U.S. households received a foreclosure filing during the month.

The U.S. Import Price Index increased 1.8 percent in April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today. For the second consecutive month, higher prices for both petroleum and nonpetroleum imports contributed to the advance. The rise followed a 2.9 percent increase in March. Export prices also increased in April, rising 0.3 percent after advancing at least 1.0 percent in each of the previous three months.

Roughly one-fifth of all U.S. heads-of-household have never used e-mail, according to National Technology Scan, a forthcoming study from Parks Associates. This annual phone survey of U.S. households found 20 million households are without Internet access, approximately 18% of all U.S. households.

One out of three the metropolitan areas in the United States showed rising home prices in the first quarter, with only a small number of jumbo loan originations and higher foreclosures resulting in greatly mixed conditions around the country, according to the latest quarterly survey by the National Association of Realtors(R).
